Enter a number and the tool spells it out in English words. You can choose cardinal form (one hundred), ordinal form (one hundredth) or currency form for writing amounts.

Cardinal numbers count quantity (one, two, three) while ordinal numbers show position or order (first, second, third). The tool can output either form.

Yes. Currency mode formats a number the way you would write it on a cheque, for example "one thousand two hundred and thirty-four dollars and fifty cents".

It handles numbers well into the billions and beyond, naming each place value (thousand, million, billion) correctly.

Yes. Switch the numbering setting to Indian and numbers are spelled using thousand, lakh, crore and arab instead of thousand, million and billion. For example 100000 becomes "one lakh", 1000000 becomes "ten lakh" and 12345678 becomes "one crore twenty-three lakh forty-five thousand six hundred seventy-eight". The comma grouping switches to the 2-2-3 Indian pattern too, so 123456789 is shown as 12,34,56,789.

Choose Indian numbering and currency mode. The tool produces the conventional cheque wording with the unit first, each word capitalised, "and" before the subunit and "Only" at the end — for example 150000.50 becomes "Rupees One Lakh Fifty Thousand and Fifty Paise Only".
